Friend owned and operated

Five friends, a dream and a love for making delicious food together is what brought Hometown Heroes to life in July of 2023. Our mission of giving back to local charities was inspired by one owner who served eight years and two tours with the Army and all of the owners having close ties to the military and first responders. We greatly look forward to setting aside a monetary gift with each order, big or small, and at the end of each year we will be donating all that was designated to a charity of our choosing. Based out of the Cedar Valley in small town Iowa we look forward to connecting with our communities around us for all of your occasions, weddings, company events, holidays, birthdays, local markets or town fairs, Hometown Heroes will be ready with our delicious, mouthwatering and original BBQ that is guaranteed to satisfy!

Dylan Hare

Dylan Hare is currently employed with BCI in Cedar Falls and was born and raised in Cedar Falls. He loves playing rugby, gaming and watching football in his down time.

Meghan McGuffey

Meghan McGuffey grew up in Minnesota and has lived in Iowa for over 10 years and runs an in home daycare. She enjoys watching the Vikings, spending time with her 5 boys and reading.

Jesse McGuffey

Jesse McGuffey is also born and raised small town Iowa and currently works third shift at John Deere. He loves making beef jerky, watching football and experimenting with new recipes.

Dani Nielsen

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Dani Nielsen moved to Iowa for college in 2010 and has been here since graduating UNI and works at Veridian. She loves traveling, reading books and spending time with family and friends.

Adam Nielsen

Adam Nielsen also grew up in Cedar Falls, joined the Army National Guard and served for 8 years with two tours overseas. He works at Shell Rock Soy Processing, loves playing bags, fantasy football, camping and being with his two daughters.
